I'm new in Trap. I practise gun mount everyday & shoot every Saturday & Sunday whenever I can.
I'm still shooting ard 10 -15/25. I really want to know why I missed the birds.
I'm thinking to purchase a shotgun camera on Black Friday (hopefully, they will have a deal). I read other threads. Apparently, shotkam is the best but it is also very pricy ard ca$900. The tachyon is approx us$330.
Anyone has tried the tachyon one? Or other suggestions? Or I should just bite my lips & buy the shotkam.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Get an experienced shooter to watch you shoot. If you are shooting 10 to 15 out of 25, you will get plenty of advice. Save the money for shells and shoot cards.

I have a tachyon. It has been back for repair a couple of times. The price is attractive but the quality is a bit on the low side. It just doesn’t seem to be very durable. Picture is good and I like the camera, but if I had my time back. I’d get the shotkam.

I agree with Westward1. Maybe take a lesson & have your gun fit checked. I also read a book from Chris Batha on breaking clays when I first started shooting it helped a lot.

I've never used or even seen the Tachyon and I know you were looking for a comparison. I own and recommend the ShotKam. The side note is that it will generally show you where you missed, but not why you missed. The classic example is that the camera may show you are shooting over the bird. It's not that you need to shoot lower, but more likely that you are lifting your head off the stock.

The ShotKam is an awesome tool and an unbiased witness, but I suspect at this point, you'd benefit more from some *qualified* instruction.

It is good to know. Thanks. Hopefully I can find a used one.

I was thinking to buy that book too. You recommend it?

There has to be more to this. I've belonged to a lot of clubs, but NEVER one that wouldn't help a new shooter along. When I suggested a qualified instructor, I was thinking of a paid student / trainer relationship, but even a guy waiting for his squad to come up should be able to get you on a better path than 10-15. Do you have access to a different club?

Yes, I do. The one I mentioned is closer to Mississauga. Honestly, it is not the most friendly place. It is like the old boy's club. However, it is big. I don't need to wait for my squad.
I have accessed to other clubs, but they r at least an hour or more away fr home.
I also have accessed to the paid instructor but he is very busy.
Thank you for your advise. I will see When spring comes.

If you are only hitting 10 or 15, something is very wrong with your gun fit or your technique. Any of your shooting buddies should get you in the 20's pretty easy.

I didn't know I'm that bad. I just started to shoot trap two months ago. I thought it is normal. A month ago I was 9/25. I thought I have improved. I really need to rethink my training plan.

There is a pretty great Youtube series that I found helpful for sporting clays, so a different discipline but some of the same principles apply across the shotgun sports. If you hit Youtube and search for "ben husthwaite smoking targets" that may be of help. Don't get discouraged and you may want to try your hand at skeet specifically stations #1 and station #7 where you get to see the bird for a long time in a fairly straight path which will allow you to learn how to hit a little more easily.

I also live in Mississauga and own a Shotkam and I use a Level 1 NSCA shooting instructor at my local club. If you like, PM me and I'll give you some more info.
