Hello everybody,

I bought hulls from fiocchi low brass and Longshot powder... I will like to use Win209 or fed209 primer and 1 1/8 shot weight.
on internet i found only "recipes" using fiocchi primer for this combination powder / hulls / weight.

The only problem for me is to find fiocchi 616 primer in the GTA area and I have alot of win and fed to use.

Any suggestion will be great!

Thanks in advance

fiocchi hulls

I use fiocchi 16g hulls all the time and reload them with win/fed/cheddite's all the time without any problems using standard recipes, i buy my fiocchi's pre-primed from ballistic products in Wisconnsin.

Thanks for replying,

Ballistic product didn't want to send me the hulls because of some international issue... The give me the name of the distributor in Alberta and I bought them there.
I can't find any recipe for :
shell fiocchi + fed or win 209 primer + longshot hodgon + 1 1/8 oz lead.

What will you do on those cases.
I found one very nice but using Federal gold medal instead. Should i trust just changing the hull with fiocchi or is it danger?

the recipe is
Fed Gold medal + fed 209 + 33.3 longshot + 1 1/8 lead gives you something like 10.500psi and 15.000fps velocity

Thanks

Federal 209A primers are hotter than the old Federal 209. I would not substitute the 209A for any other recipe not specifically mentioning them. The only primers that I'm comfortable substituting are Cheddite and Winchester. They have apparently the exact same strength.

Fiocchi hulls

I go through a lot of these, and have used only Winchester 209 primers for them. Every load recipe for Fiocchi hulls that I have seen, have worked fine with W209 primers.

fiocchi hulls

I'm only shooting skeet with my 16g fiocchi hulls so I don't load them up like you, i'm just staying @ 1200 fps, my recipe is:

16.9 gr promo
1 oz #9
win 209 primer / cheddite 209 primer
Ballistic Product 1 oz sporting wad

I shoot this alot from a 16g Citori with many straights, you want to make sure you re-size, i find fiocchi hulls expand quite a bit.

I would try patterning a light load with the Federal Gold Medal hull with a little less powder first, I'm assuming you are trying to create a hunting load based on the speed you are looking for, the 10,500 psi @ 33.3 gr longshot is pretty good, it seems like quite a bit of powder, i wonder how the hull will crimp.
