Hi,

Does anybody know where I can order a flat/case of target shotshells for the lowest price these days?

Go to Reliable Gun on Fraser off Kingsway. Good prices, great staff, good selection. I usually pick up a couple cases of Remington Gun Club target loads whenever I'm on the mainland for like $55/ a case.

Reliable has Remington and Federal target loads for $54.00 (before taxes).

Got a flat yesterday.

One more question, will Remington or Federal loads be better for my 870 express. I don't want any expanding brass/jamming issues.

Anybody got the prices at Italian? Do they still have any Clever Mirage left?

Get the Remington Gun Clubs. They have a one piece, reloadable hull. The Feds and cheaper winchesters have two piece throw away hulls. I've never had any jamming or feeding issues. I've shot them in O/U and pumps and they are great. Plus you can actually reload them if you want to.

Remington are fine. I've heard of them having hard primers (and they wouldn't shoot in a fine Anson & Deeley style boxlock I got to try) but they've never failed to shoot in my 870TB or Beretta 391 in about 6000 rds.

I don't think it was the gun. Because it shot 5 rounds of Federals before I let you try it. For some reason it doesen't like the primers.

I went to reliable today and they're sold out of the Remingtons. I opted for the Federal Top Guns, which are not reloadable? Will they jam in my 870 express?

The only way you or anyone will know if they will work in YOUR gun is for you to try them. Buy one or two boxes try them and if they work buy the case or flat.

I have been reloading these maybe 2 or 3 times before throwing them away. I shine a light down inside them to check the paper part of the case and reload if it hasn't deteriorated. The do make nice crimps unlike the Winchester cheapies. Wonder if I should stop this? Fred

the federals tend to jamb in the supermag 870's

No problem there with my o/u but the base wads do start deteriorating fast in the cheapies and the tops start splitting pretty fast too. Gold medal hulls are an entirely different story of course. fred

Ya it seams to be a supermag specific problem, the 3" doesn't have the same issues. must be a snall design flaw in the 3.5" chamber that allows the hulls to expand too much.

Just shot 100 rounds through my 870 Express Magnum today, no jams whatsoever with the Federal Top Guns.

So I add them to my list of non-jamming shotshells:

1. Clever Mirage
2. Federal Top Gun

Waiting to try Remington Gun Clubs, Winchesters, and Challenger
