I never planned to buy one, but the ''opportunity'' showed up today. Is it something I should jump on? I already have a Ruger MkIII comp target, a S&W M41 and a 17-6 in 22lr...
From the crappy picture I saw, I would rate the gun in good to very good condition...but I guess the round count is fairly low.
I'm no collector. I only have and buy good shooters.
How's the trigger on 76?
Any postive/negative experience to share?

Thank you,

I had one and it was a pretty good pistol. Some things to consider about them are spare magazines and parts are getting a little hard to find. If you crack a grip or loose a grip screw I would consider them almost impossible to replace. They, IMHO, are decently built and are reasonably accurate but is not in the same league accuracy wise as the pistols you mentioned. I sold my for $400 a few years ago and I've seen one rated in 'good' condition for around 250-300. YMMV......

I have one too. I love how it fits my hand, how it looks, the balance, just the overall vibe I get from it. You can tell it's from a time when people cared about building something right. Mine's no competition pistol, but the trigger is nice and the accuracy is just fine by me.

My father had one for the longest time...

The +
+ Look good
+ Felt good in the hand
+ Reliable

The -
- Good luck finding a spare magazine (we could never get the after market to work either)
- Rear sight is far from been the best
- Did I say spare parts are hard to come by?

Tradeex has been selling lots of "used" one in the $200-$250 bracket, maybe they'll find some spare parts/magazines.

last time i went to WSS(it was probably a month and a half ago), they had one for sale. it felt good and had good weight, then i looked at the price. I can't quite remember the actual number, but it was over 600 dollars. i dont know what the hell was so special about that one, but there was no way i'd have paid 600 for it, even if it was 95%. If it was under 300, i'd have had a good look at it, but really, 600 bones is just ridiculous.

Thank you guys,
I've made up my mind. Since I cannot see the pistol before I buy I'll just keep saving for my first 1911.
