OK, I have a 1944 Long Branch No.4 that has had the barrel cut down right before the Bayo Lugs. It has a pretty nice, 2-groove bore and the crown is nice. I was going to drill to mount a scope to it to make a poor mans sniper out of it, but I now have a problem. I just got back form a trip visiting some family. We did some shooting and my uncle has another 1944 LB sporter with a good, five groove bore (from what I can tell), but the barrel is not cut down, and the receiver is already drilled. BUT the crown has more to be desired, it is not worn right off, but is defiantly worn more then mine. Should I do the trade? What are the drawbacks of a worn crown?
