Here is my current 10/22 LR with a Butler Creek Barrel. Thinking of getting a Volquartsen bull stainless barrel with no fluting. However the groups I shot here are not too bad. What do you think?
(most groups are 5 shot groups at 50yds with American Eagle 38grn HV)
I would try different ammo before rebarreling. Rimfire's can be very fussy
about what you feed them. Tough to wear out a 22 lr barrel, but have owned
a lot but never a 10-22, not into semi's.
When I have a new .22lr rifle I always go and buy a box of every brand .22LR that I can get my hands on. You would be amazed at how your rifle will really like one brand and really hate another. I know it takes a bit of time and money but it can make a huge difference in your groups.
I have one rifle(DPMS AP4 AR15 upper) that loves Yellowjackets at 25yds but not at 50yds. At 50yds I switch to Eley Target rifle and groups are in the 3/8" range.
Try including some of the premium ammo as well (Eley Target Rifle) and see how it groups. I know its a little more expensive but it should elliminate some of the flyers your getting. Practice with the OK ammo and save the premium stuff for competition. Otherwise the groups your getting arn't too bad.
