Afternoon everyone,

Just wondering how people feel about The Grange club in Gormley, Ontario. I'm looking for a good range near Toronto (I work during the day and don't want to make a long trip after work to shoot) but The Grange is somewhat on the expensive side.

All I'm looking to do is target shoot with my 9mm M&P maybe once a week alone or occasionally with a friend. $700 to start here is hefty, but maybe this particular club is worth it?

Bear with me here, as I am new to all of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I've been a member for almost a year, it's a good club. Keep in mind that most clubs have a probation period of 1-3 months before you're a full member and can actually shoot. At the grange there's just a simple safety course and a 3 day probation period so you can do it all in less than a week. Unless you want to drive far away I would tell you that it's worth it.

Was wondering the same thing too, also kind of concerned cause of the public side of it as well. But the fact it is open seven days a week and is indoors is very appealing to me. How long is it to get the club to issue a okay for a latt as this will be my first one?

Although most will say it's an expensive club, it's has access to a great facility - worth every penny IMO. The only complaint I have - and it's really nit-picking - is the public using the same range as members. I black out my last name on my badge with some electrical tape and keep my gun bag/containers at my feet. If it introduces people to the sport, I can certainly live with it.

I think the club level safety course was 8-10 weeks and then another 3-6 weeks for a LTATT aplication - so about 3-4 months. That was back in 2006 when I joined.

Few questions you should ask yourself...

1. How far away are you from The Grange?
2. How far away are you from the other ranges of choice?
3. How often do you shoot?
4. Do you shoot lots of rifle and shotgun?
5. Do you like to shoot rimfire past 25 yards?

The grange is a indoor pistol club that has an expensive option to to shoot rifle and buckshot.

1 .223 / .308 at 25 yards ($30-50 for 20rds).
2. Buckshot at 25 yards ($1 a round or so).

After answering the questions above i decided to join. It's $700 a year, about the same as my gym membership.

1. How far away are you from the Grange?
About 10 minutes.

2. How far away are you from the other ranges of choice?
Not including Sharon the next closest club is about 45 minutes away. At $90 for a tank of gas at 1/3 tank minimum both ways it costs me $30+ each time i go to the range.

3. How often do you shoot?
Twice a week minumum.

4. Do you shoot lots of restricted rifle?
Once or twice a month. I go to Silverdale for $20.

5. Do you like to shoot rimfire or shotguns?
Not allot, if i do i go to a friends property. Or i go to silverdale for $20.

I do have some minor displeasures.
1. It's way to busy on the weekends. You can't really relax and shoot.
2. Too many drop ins. It's hard to leave your stuff around without the fear of getting something stolen.
3. I had to wait 3 months for a club safety course.
4. Filters should be changed more often. Not bad in Range B but Range A is BAD.

Not a fan of this place. Too crowded and small.
I prefer silverdale, its only an additional 20 minutes drive for me but its huge, outdoors and from my own personal experience people seem to be a lot more friendly at silverdale.
