Should I trim this?

I had much to much time on my hands so for fun I ran a 30-06 case through a 308 die. As you can see once trimmed it would work. Not something I would reccomend, but possible. It actually resized relatively easily, just well lubed with RCBS lube on a lube pad.

One long cold winter i spent a lot of time in the loading room creating some odd combos. Never made a 300 girrafe but it looks intriguing. Put them on display then when an unsuspecting buddy asks about it string him along.

That picture reminds of resizing 223 into 222 but a little more extreme. I hope you have a good sharp trimmer head. lol

I actually did trim one, first I took a mini tube cutter to cut the most off then a Lee trimmer in a drill to finish.

If you plan on firing it, I would check the neck thickness before chambering a round. Might be a little on the thick side.

I was messing around one day and put a 270 case through my 260 die, then ran the neck through my 6BR neck die and seated a bullet into it. Looks really strange with a super long stepped neck. I still have it on my loading bench.

You certainly could just trim it and fire it (after double checking neck thickness) as my Cartridge Conversion book recommends using 30-06 to make 308 brass ... but I have to say, I like the idea of a 30-Giraffe better

The first while I had my M700 "Classic" in 300 Savage, I made all my brass from 308 Winchester.
Very simple procedure, but the necks were too thick, so I had to outside turn them.
By getting the thickness at optimum, I have some brass that produces stellar groups.
This rifle shoots everything well, but those 308 cases have an edge.
Here's my best group, ever, with this rifle.

Eagleye ... That is not a "group", that's a hole! I'd say you found the right combo of brass, powder and bullet for that gun

ive converted alot of 3006 to 8mm mauser i trimmed it and since the neck wall was very thick i had to trim a little of brass from the inside of the neck i think its called neck turning

Made some 358 brass from 30-06 and they work very well. Just a reminder, the volume of the brass was less that factor 358 brass.

That is Awesome, i have seen a 308 Case that was fired out of a 30-06.... quite the opposite on the neck side of things haha.

30 girraffe looks good. would you seat bullets out as far as possible? lol
