Should wax be removed

I am reloading 40 s&w with lead bullets I bought at a gun show. There is quite a bit of wax left on the bullet afer reloading. Should this wax be removed or will it just act as a lubricant when going down the barrel??

When I use bullets with a softer lube I give the cartridge a wipe down with a cloth after the batch is reloaded. I don't know if it's absolutely needed, although I've heard it can increase back thrust due to not gripping the chamber walls as well.

If it is gunked only on the bullet it will soon migrate to your fingers, magazine, feed ramp etc. My .02
