Shoulder pocket

Is the shoulder pocket where the butt of the shotgun should go directly below the collar bone or further to the outside. I know we are all built differently but when I hear the term I would like a more specific location. I know where the gun feels most comfortable for me so is this the right spot?

No flaps or buttons on the pocket either !
