Show me the proper way to put a M1907 sling on my Model of 1917 rifle

I got a nice 1917 made by Eddystone. Purchased a reproduction sling. I've seen a couple different ways of mounting the sling on google. Who can show me the right way? Hooks in? Out seems like the wise choice to protect the stock...but the in way I've seen they are protected by another loop of the sling.

Is this right?

.. Yes it is. The 'sling really comes into it's own, when shooting from the prone position. And, perhaps, to a slightly lesser extent, when from the kneeling. ..... David K
