wow!kinda like paintng your nails no?? just kidding buddy,,nice mags! :)

Fair enough, I can see why some would say that but I see it more like painting a car. More paint and clear coat per square inch than your car. You can customize it anyway you want and no one has the same one. I could airbrush them in camo or paint them in flat black but thats been done before and I wanted to try something different.

The first mag was supposed to be a blue base and red on top, then using a crushed plastic bag it separates colours, supposed to have the superman colour scheme. However, the paints didn't sit on each other well and turned pinkish purple, so my sister has now claimed it as her own. Anyone with a female shooter in the family knows they would love this one as a Christmas gift!

The second mag uses the same technique but with Mercedes metallic black, Mercedes silver and a BMW blue with a white pearl to make the colours pop without them mixing. If you look closely you can see the black at certain angles depending on how the lights hit it. Lots of paint went into this one, not a cheap venture for a small piece of plastic.

The third mag is the Jackson Pollock. It has Chev Impala blue with random left over paints splatted on it with about 15 layers of clear coat to even out the splatters. The clear is so thick you can barely feel the raised butler creek lettering on both sides.

The fourth mag involved lots of taping and blending. The back side is VW metallic black with a Mercedes silver blend into a Cadillac red. The spine is a blend of the red and black making it look burgundy.

ceLL, did you have any problems fitting the mag into mag well?
I thoroughly taped mine anticipating the top of the mag probably wouldn't fit.

Sweet camo job. Did you do that?

That camo is really easy to do.
Take a piece of cardboard from a box(cereal box works great)and with a utility knife cut irregular long curved shapes like branches on a tree or leaves or trace tree branches and cut them out.You don't want wide lines for this. I use 3 different patterns minimum.
For the paint I used the Hunters Specialties camo kit. it comes with 4 colours. Start with the lightest color and spray all areas to be painted and let dry over night. Don't go crazy with a heavy coat. You will be adding more paint to this base. Just a nice light covering coat will do.Let dry over night. I reassembled rifle and taped off what I didn't want painted. Use your patterns and spray randomly on areas you want camo'd. Working from lightest color to darkest. Do each color and let dry for at least a couple of hours minimum. When you spray the pattern hold your template almost on the gun and swing the spray across the pattern so it is misted and shadowy without too many sharp lines. As you spray stop after each couple of blasts of paint and wipe off the over spray on both sides of your spray template with paper towel to avoid drips landing on your project( live and learn!!). Stop and look at how things look frequently to avoid too much of one color in the same area. When your happy your finished. This paint takes a couple of days to harden up so let it dry before too much use. I put on a top coat as well because the paint seemed to rub off a little.

No problems fitting the magazine in the mag well, the only problem I can foresee is the paint will wear at the top faster though that may give it a more distinguished look.

I only bothered covering the feed lips, everything else just got painted and I had no issues even though I only let it cure for about 36 hours. That picture was after firing around 300 rounds and cleaning it.
