Hey,
Just impulsively decided to buy a knights lower.......

question is..... what should I put on top?

I plan on running straight irons.
Figured you kids could help me decide which top to play with.
Looking for a something under 16inches for the barrel.

SR15 E3 upper or nothing....

Now, I'm running a SR15 upper on a ATRS lower, but that can be forgiven (since there WERE no lowers I could buy at the time!). Any other upper on a KAC lower than a Sr15 is blasphemy!!!! ;)

Oh- just curious - why irons only?

In all seriousness... you'll just regret buying a cheap upper for that rifle, in my opinion. It deserves something nice!

I think the best combination is a SR15 upper on a Norinco lower. ;)

Kinda late for the OP now. Let's not let this opportunity pass by. Wouldn't it be great if the Norinco upper shot well under MOA with run of the mill Winchester 55gr. FMJ white box? :D

I ran a Norc upper on an Armalite lower (I know, not quite the same ) but it was a nice tight fit and worked perfectly. For a KAC lower, you really will kick your own butt if you don't get a Knights upper, or an LMT at the absolute minimum.

PWS MK112U

The MK1 series, developed by Primary Weapons Systems, is a significant product improvement for the M4/M16-type carbines and rifles. Utilizing our proven long stroke piston system, the MK1 series greatly reduces fouling in the action of the rifle making it as reliable as the AK47 that it was designed after.

Significant product improvements have been made over both the direct impingement operating system and previous offerings of piston-driven operating systems. Our product improvements have addressed reliability and performance issues as well as reduced carrier tilt, cam pin wear and carrier bounce.

An innovative hand guard system utilizes a proprietary non-free float system that allows the end user or unit armorer to replace individual rails as needed without removing the barrel, barrel nut or even other rails. This system allows the user to attach numerous picatinny rail mounted devices such as sights, lights, and laser aiming devices.

The PWS proprietary operating system utilizes an operating rod that is attached to the carrier and a floating head piston that is attached to the operating rod. With no unnecessary gas adjustments and only one moving assembly, this is the most rugged, simple and versatile piston operating system available.

thanks for the info so far.
I will consider the knights upper.....i was hoping for a mix match.
I will definately have to research the PWS as I don't really know much about them.
maybe i don't get the norc references. is that a joke? i wouldn't put one on if one of you sent me one free of charge.

I have a Noveske Afghan upper on my KAC lower. Couldn't be happier. (sans no sling swivels in this version of the VIS)

If it were my rifle, I'd put a SR15E3 KAC upper on it and return it to its intended state. But, if that doesn't float your boat, and at the least a Noveske upper. Then again, it's not my rifle (I'm not made of money like some of you :p).

So, get a Norinco upper and see what happens. Come on, slum it for a bit and post results :)
