This is just hypothetical, but let's just say a guy- we'll call him Bob, was trying to install a safety in his 10/22 and the spring/detent went flying into parts unknown. How would poor, yet suprisingly good looking Bob get a hold of the Canadian Ruger distributor for a new one?

You might be able to order one from Rimfire Sports or Hawktech in the states...
 
Tried it. It's prolly a $2 part and I have-I mean, Bob has, an hour looking for it under his belt. He thinks it's time to move on.

just a tip for you... er, your "friend", next time you have to take it apart, put the trigger group in a ziploc bag so the peices can't fly fly away!

Reminds me of the time my friend (also named) "Bob" decided to detail strip his pistol and his trigger return spring flew away. He needed his gun first thing in the morning and no way to get a replacement spring without admitting he had taken his gun apart beyond field stripping. He spent 3 hours searching before he found it. Now "Bob" takes his guns apart in a box and preferably in a room without a lot of clutter.

I'm convinced that all the lost parts in Bob's man cave are regrouping and assembling themselves into a killer robot. They're just waiting for the opportune time to strike.

From now on, he's doing all his work in the same place his wife makes him eat to keep the mess down- in the bathtub. With the curtain drawn.
 
Look up the part description(s) / part # in your owner's manual and then call Snapshots @(450) 427-0052. They are the Canadian repair depot for Ruger and should be able to help you out. I broke the hammer link on my Redhawk and they were able to send me the replacement part with a minimum of fuss.
 
I have lost so many little parts it is retarded. Things hit my workshop floor and de-molecualize. Pins, screws, nuts its all somewhere.

Once I took apart my bolt to adjust my firing pin at the range of all places and a small c ring popped off into the gravel. Took an hour, but I found it. That would of sucked.
