Side Parrelax adjustment killed by rings?

OKay heres the situation. I got a 93R17 Savage, mounted up a 6-18x40 Cabela's Pine ridge Tactical 17 hmr scope. When it's off the rifle the side parrelax adjustment works it goes from 50-300 and then inf. But once I tighten the rings down it will not move.

My questions are...

1) Is this what I get for a 100 dollar scope?

2) Exactly how tight should those rings be? They have to be very loose for it to move still.

3) If it plan to shoot mostly between 100 and 200 yards, if i set it to 125-150 and tighten the rings, so it's basically locked in at that distance what can i expect when shooting closer, or further? Honestly right now lookin at trees 200 yards from my house at 18x its not blurry, should I worry about it?

How did you line up the rings? Sorry to state the obvious but this shouldn't be happening. If you don't have the gear, like a lapping bar, to true up the rings I'd have a gun smith install the scope.
 
When you lay the scope in the bases, can you see any obvious misalignment? Can you try some other rings? They do need to be tight. 15 inch-lbs
 
Try moving the scope backwards or forwards in the rings. Tighten a try paralex. Ring may just is tight near the adjuster.

Either lap the rings or uses Burris Signature rings (the ones with plastic inserts). P&D in Edmonton do a good job of lapping the rings at about $30.00.
 
Not sure if the scope has any issues, it moves fine out of the rings. Honestly I think I will just run it like it is unless i find someone local that can lap it.
 
Tighten the rings on the scope WITHOUT it on the rifle .Do this with one ring first front then rear to see witch one is causing the problem if either.
 
Obviously a problem with the alignment of the bases and rings, nothing to do with the scope. Try changing the rings front to rear and turning them around 180deg's. Do one thing at a time though. Try the front to rear first and then rotate if that didn't help. Also when you have the rings off check that the bases align by laying a flatedge on them, you may have to shim them slightly to get them level to each other. Please post pics of you doing this so we can all check it out.

By any chance, you didn't reverse position on one of the rings, did you?
I saw such a mistake last week and the guy was complaining he had not enough lateral adjustment to zero the scope. He had reversed one of the rings and there was enough misalignment to be noticed by eyesight! The tube was binding, too.

Not sure what you mean about revering a ring.

I got it working now, switched rings front to back, then turned them 180 now the adjustment works fine.

I mean, putting the rings on so one has its tightening bolt on one side and the other ring on the other. They often look symmetrical but, depending on the design, they can be offset just a tad, just enough to cause problems.

Okay, yeah they are both on the same side. I see what you mean now, looks like it's good to go just had to swap around some different positions like elm said.
