Sierra bullets any good?

I shoot 100gr Pro-Hunters out of a modern .250 Savage at near 3000fps /unverified but always end up with no jacket core separation and 60-70% bullet retention.Kills big bodied AB deer dead.

Sierra bullets are my go-to. True, they aren't the toughest, so maybe aren't the best for the 300 superultramagnum loudenboomer.

That said, I have had a 140 gn 6.5 mm enter a buck in front of the shoulder, go through the lungs, liver, rumen, and get lost in the guts somewhere.

I have had other bullets shoot as well as a sierra, but never better.

never used them but I hear great things about the accuracy of the pro hunter bullets. SMK are great bullets as well that work well in a lot of rifles. I have great luck with hornady bullets though which seem to be cheaper usually speaking so I've been shooting those. ELD-X work great for both accuracy and long range hunting. I have no experience with effect on target though of the eld-x's.

The flat base pro-hunters work well. The 7mm 150 SMK has produced amazing results for myself. For punching paper they work great and are priced accordingly.

I have shot some of my best groups ever with SMKs in 308(168gr, 175gr) and 223(69gr).

I've also shot coyotes at close range (inside 200) with them and they detonated like hand grenades. Thats all i can say. haven't tried their hunting line.

Cup and core bullets ,as with women quality varies .Your mileage may differ.

Sierra make a 90gr HP bullet in 257 that is down right devestating on deer lung tissue, also shot very well from a Model 14 Savage chambered in 250 Savage.
I would pet this 90 gr bullet up against anyones 87gr bullet for making things stop moving.....FS

I find them to be quite accurate, better than Hdy Interlocks but in the same league as the Hdy ELDX. As for performance, it's a standard cup and core so load and shoot accordingly.

Ah.................... the old 1-14 twist might like that bullet as well.
