Hey all,
Have a grip screw that was stuck in the grip, came off with the stud.
Shoulda waited for advice on how to remove it, but recalled being able to do so by covering the threads with a cloth and using pliers to grip while turning the Allen key.
Was on there like mad, and I don't think it would have mattered much what I did, I was going to screw the threads up either way.
Anyone know where to locate a single grip stud?
It's the Sig 1911 tacops if that matters.

Thanks in advance.

Aaron

Tape the heck out of it and then use pliers/vise grip/wifes denture and then unscrew it.

After its separated, applie either purple or blue loctite to bushing and reassemble

I ended up using a cloth, but I bungled the threads, it was on there so tight I almost didn't get it at all. There was only about 1/8 of an inch to grab onto, and I had to squeeze as hard as I could to get it loose. I wonder if the previous owner used loctite on it.

Next time try this.

Degrease the threaded busing screw hole on the frame and the bushing threads.
Heat the bushing up with a soldering iron or heat transfer with an old punch and a torch then let cool.
Apply a dab or permanent loctite on the bushing threads and screw the grip with the bushing back in nice and snug.
Let sit for a day or so before trying to unscrew the grip screw. Should come off without the bushing attached.

Pliers on threaded screws = bad idea
