I've been looking at these for awhile and was wondering if anyone has one? Are they worth the extra money over a regular SIG 226?

The wooden grip panels are pricey, but I find they are too big for me, so no advantage in having them. The 5 mags gives you three more than normal (about $150 worth), the sights are available from Tru Glo for $125. The package is worth the price if you want these features. Except for the logo though, all the features can be added to your regular P226 if you want them.

The Shooting Edge in Calgary has one I believe. Or at least they did a few weeks ago when I was in last. VERY nice gun. I almost bought one. Got the XD45 instead for now.

In regards to the Wooden Grips... I too feel they are a little too fat for my hands; I got the regular grips and it helped alot.

I just got notice that my SIG Short Trigger has arrived today... so I am going to install that, then I will tell you how the SIG w/wood feels afterwards.

I am hoping this will be the ultimate combo for comfort (and medium sized hands) :)

EDIT: The trigger came in today... installing tonight :)

I woldn't pay the extra money for one, I'd say get a two-tone or stainless* model instead...

*before they're all gone
Agree..
That's why I have a stainless 226 in 9MM and 40S&W, as well as a 220 in 45ACP!:D

But, what about those 9mm mags with the plastic ends on them? They look terrible... but are they robust?

Will Brownells ship the after market mags up here?

I have dropped my SIG Factory 10 rounders a few times, and twice they landed square on the plastic baseplate loaded with 10 rounds. No cracks or any damage and I was quite impressed. I also have one of the MecGar 10 rounders which I really like and priced at $32 bucks from Marstar the price is way better than 50 or 60 for a factory SIG magazine.

I would much prefer to have some 10/15 with the full magazine instead of that base plate. I found these guys which have the the P226 9MM Blued 10 rounders in stock for 18 bucks! I am going to order 5 magazines, which will keep me under the $100 Export Law and since they are factory 10 rounders I see no issues.

IIRC, does the BlackWater not come with 5 magazines? 1 in the gun and 4 extras. Those 4 extras x 50 bucks each is an extra $200 bucks so thats one reason why you are paying much more.

'regular' P226 comes with 2 mags Blackwater does come with 5. Personally I wouldn't pay $150 for only 3 mags! You can get they from US for a LOT chaper or but Mac-Gar...
