I have one of the chinese 226 clones and am looking to have it refurbished. Not my first choice, but given the handgun ban its my only option. Looking to have the gun potentially refinished, the slide cut for a red dot mount. Any suggestions for a gunsmith? I am near woodstock ontario. Local would be preferred, but am willing to ship.

Any kind of "optics" cut will probably come with a Cerakote paint refinish, Tac Ordnance? in ON or Black Box Customs in AB. SIG is also making P226 optic cut slides IIRC. Getting one may be a PIA though. Good Luck.

Has anyone tried putting a actual sig226 or aftermarket slide on a chinese clone. I've heard part interchangeability is not great.

If I recall correctly there are two generations of Sig226 and the Norc is based on the older one which makes swapping a slide a challenge. Sig made a change to the rails in the frame as they could (and some did) crack.

I'm not entirely knowledgeable or familiar on every NP22 and other P22x clones but weren't they made with a stamped slide and block insert? If so, it is unlikely to be a good candidate for a optics cut. If not, that ignore my question and good luck finding someone to mill away.

Alternatively, if the ability to mount a red dot is all you want, you might be able to use a frame mount (ie typically using picatinny light rail) that goes over the entire slide. Technically these are more stable if not the most sleek and low profile.
