hi,

i have a Sig 226 TacOps in 9mm about 300 rnds through it since i bought it new a couple of months back.

It has rear night sights and front fiber optic. the problem is it seem to shoot really low, i have to aim at 12 o'clock high to hit the bullseye at 10 yrds.

What can i do, i really like the sights and dont want to replace them with adjustable sights just yet.

so is this normal for a 226?, sofar i have used 115gr Remington and 124gr AE.

Thanks for any input.

It could be an issue with different brands of sights front and rear. However it is likely you. Shoot from a rest and have an experienced shooter do so as well. Adjustable sights are a crutch for poor fundamentals.

was my first guess also , but i had someone else shoot it and he had the same problem, i tried an m&p9 and a kimber 1911 and both shot center mass for me just fine.

hence the question here to try and find someone that has experience with sigs, i don't plan to make any changes till i hit at least 1000 rnds through it anyway. I will also try some other types and weights of ammo.

The video is correct. Sig's have a "combat" sight set-up so the front blade will be covering where you intend to hit. You can change the point of impact by changing the sights if you like from the factory set-up to something else.

I have been aiming the same way in as the video but still shoots low I knew the pistol used combat sights.

I think the mix and match of sights is the problem.

I would hope that sig would make sure the sights that come stock with the pistol worked together.

Anyone else with a tacops get this issue?

I had the same problem. I went over to The Shooting Edge in Calgary a bought LPA after market sights for a hundred bucks. Gun smith required. I also had a thread on this subject:

Yea thats an option, did you have the tac ops model?

I just really like the sights that came with the tac ops.

Il just have to see how it goes as i put more rounds through it.

Keep putting rounds through it and see what happens. Just in case, watch for flinch as it will usually put your round low. I know you shot on target with others but maybe there's something with the Sig that causes a touch of flinch. Good luck!

I had the same issue with my first Sig. After I was shown it was set up for combat sighting the problem was mostly corrected however I still shoot it a few inches lower than I should. I have been shooting using the good old fashioned 6 O'clock sight alignment since day one and I think this might be a factor.

this :) was my first guess also, and i will definitely send a lot more lead down range before i consider doing anything to the sights. will also try shooting at 25yrds and see if its sighted for that distance.

is there a place to check what distance the pistol was sighted for from factory ?

or should i just shoot it from a bench rest and figure it out :) (il probably do it anyway )

25 YD is the standard.
Shoot it from a rest.
Also have someone else shoot it!
:pVery often its the operator not the equipment

My P226 did this as well. The rounds impact the center to the white dot on the front sight. I was told this was a "combat" sight setup, though for me it meant I was covering way more of the target than I would like, so I swapped the rear #8 sight for a #10, and all is good.

thanks, carbonrod. where did you get the #10 rear sights? any issues with the replacement process?

late posting about Sig P226 sight issues ... yes, brought my Mark 25 9mm to the range today (steel plate shooting between 10-25 yards) and yes, am shooting low all day, not nice. anyway, thanks for all the input here ... will share my final choice & feedback asap.

questar has different rear sights available and they can special order any factory sig sight you want, be patient and just replace the back blade for another Factory Sig Nightsight.... you would need a taller rear sight...

I know on the glocks each + or - sight gives approx 3inches of movement at 25yds... sigs are probably similar.

email sig and find out all the info you need to make the correct part number order with a canadian dist.
