Okay guys something doesnt seem right. I ordered a new set of E2 grips and a SRT trigger kit from questar. Just arrived today and couldn't wait to put family to bed to play. I was somewhat unfamiliar with complete disassembly of the gun, but am very familiar now. The grips went on easy so I tackled the SRT.:redface:
The SRT comes with 2 parts. The new sear and safety catch lever. My issue is the new safety piece. I for the life of me cannot get the slide back on the gun because of this protruding safety piece. The older one I took out looks very different and is .604" long. The new L shaped one is .906 long and has a bit of up and down wiggle. It seems as if it should drop down into the gun so the slide could fit, but it won't. There is more up and down wiggle if you #### the hammer. From what I observe in my minimal experience is that the through pin that holds the trigger sits at the back of this new safety piece. If there was a notch cut into the piece so this pin could recess into, then the top part of the safety would in fact drop out of the way for the slide to go on.
Or perhaps I am completely missing something. If you have done the SRT job and could find time to help me out before I go hacking these new parts to make them fit, that would be greatly appreciated.

Yep. Just tried that. It is a solid abrupt stop up against that safety piece. I have both the 40 cal and 22lr slides and neither will slide back on.

So you have a part installed wrong. Post a pic and i will help you. BTW is the little spring on top installed?

SRT parts are different dimensions but they fit the same as the old one. They will just slide the pin to the left side until sear will come out then remove the spring and the 2 parts, replace them put the spring back and slide the pin in position.

So wait.. Not sure what pin you're referring to, but you're saying the trigger bar is preventing the (other) end of the safety lever from dropping?

ETA: SOMEBODY GET ME MY GOAT!!!!!!!!

Okay guys I finally got it figured out. Funny how some things will still go together but don't work as per normal.

I indeed had this safety piece on the wrong way. The pin goes through the ejector then passes through the new sear and then through the spring then into the problem piece. I had the long end out...which was catching on the slide. Wasn't till I put the magazine in with a snap cap did I realize there is no way that bullet could come out of the mag with that piece in the way. An about face and 90 degree rotation of the part to line up the holes and now it seems to be functioning like it should.
