Hey all,
Tried searching, but get lost and sidetracked through all of the posts, so I will just throw my question out there.

I think this would work, makes sense to me and my friend restricted, but figured should ask the group.

If I take a sig 226 in 9mm, which comes in a choice of 9 mm or 40 same price and all that jazz.

Can I buy a sig 40 barrel and the 40 spring kit and of course the mags and up convert to shooting 40 as well?

thanks for your help

Youd have to get the entire xchange kit. The 40 slide isnt the same as the 9mm slide, its heavier I do believe

Can't do just barrel and springs, need the whole slide. Questar has the kits. Now if you have the .40S&W, you just need the Barstow barrel. Might need a smaller spring too, I've heard both stories.

Ha! Post at the same time!

Meowever, if they're the same price, why not just buy the .40, then you can throw a 9mm conversion barrel in it?

Well I bought the 9mm version, and then seen there was a 40 of the same version. from my understanding its the samesize frame and everything being a 226 so thought it would be possible just to change the spring and barell and mag and there you go.
It makes sense the down converting part as thats how it works with everything else.
But throwing the barrel and spring in the g17 of the 22 works and the mags fit..

I have seen two P226's with the .40 slide not reliably ejecting the 9 mm case, the rim being smaller. However, my P226 in .357 Sig, same slide as the .40 S&W, works well with the barrel from one of my 9 mm P226, so go figure. I suspect the version of the slide in a particular gun and tolerances of extractors being such, some work and some not so well.
