sig 226 ?

I own a sig 226 im the 3rd or 4th owner and i've had it for quite a few years someone told me that the rcmp
had a bunch of these and released them for sale does anyone know anything about this the slide has a section that has been polished down
so there might have been some kind of a stamp

When I bought a pair of Sigs about a year and a half ago, the dealer I bought'em from told me they were ex-RCMP guns. When I inquired about that on GunNutzs, I was told that that was highly improbable as the RCMP stopped selling old sidearms to the public in 1973.

Someone in that thread posted the following picture. Does the part of your slide that's been polished down correspond to the part bearing the stamp?

The RCMP was selling surplus revolvers as late as the early nineties, as far as auto pistols go, it wouldn't surprise me if they sold them.

I would think if the manufacturer resold them they would have reblued the slide because where the slide is ground down it is bare polished metal. its funny that none of the dealers haven't heard of this. where the slide is polish is where the rcmp is on the one in the picture
