I bought one! Yeah! :dancingbanana:

I ordered mine as soon as they popped up on the Questar website. I was thinking that they would sell out on pre-orders alone. Looks like that is not true, but once I post my review and pics in the pistols section they won`t last long!

I`m guessing you guys got 5, and mine was the first one to sell... 4 left.. correct?

Where else is a person ever going to get a new 228, or any kind of restricted 228?

Really looking forward to getting mine!

Here's the answer from the Questar website:

"The compact version of the legendary P226, the P228 delivers unparalleled performance in a compact frame. Designated the M11 by the US Military, the P228 is quickly becoming a favorite among IDPA competitors and those who know the value of a great concealed carry pistol."

Now ya know....

??

why would anyone buy a 228 versus thoses beauty 229's

I bought a p229r with night sites and it was under a grand, very cool

Well, definitely not because of the price! lol

Some people don't like the rail and funny trigger guard on the 229 (I don't either, but that's why I bought a 229 SAS)... Also, for a while the 229 was not available in 9mm (it is now, so this is a moot point).

But for this price... there is only one reason you would buy one, exclusivity of owning a Sig that is no longer in production.

Slide is a bit slimmer then the 229 so it feels less top heavy....more like the 226. Most people liked the original 228 because it had a round trigger guard and no rail but I prefer this one...I think they just dug out some old 228 slides and stuck em on some new 229 frames. If our dollar wasnt such crap Id have gotten one already!

edit actually it seems (from the limited info on the net) that the slide is stamped...I guess from a heavy gauge of sheet metal and the muzzle end is welded into it before being machined. This is the reason I doubted the stamped process, because of the complexity of the slide. Still a bit unsure...

I remember seeing an original p220 and it was very obvious that the slid was sheet metal...these slides are different though.

If my 649 numbers finally come in bigtime for me I might order one.

What, besides being a range status statement, will the SIG P228 do for me that a Smitty M&P 40 won't for less than 1/2 the money??

Just like these guys that drive around town in gas guzzling Hummers just to prove they're "a cut above" the rest of us.
