I see these for sale on US forums everywhere for dirt cheap. 2 questions;
1. Fit on a Canadian spec PE90?
2. Any way to get paperwork to legally export these out of the US?

If this is doable I might finally switch to a Sig rifle...

Well those that have done this do say that these lowers require modification to the PE-90 upper to work properly. I'm not sure if this would be a drop in replacement lower.

I would be interested in real world experience with this however. I have to admit that I'm just repeating what I've heard and haven't tried this myself.

Yes you have to do the relief cut to the upppers trunion area. A 5 minute job with a dremel, then works perfect with AR mags.

Well there's no going back from that :runaway:. Thanks for the claritiy on this, I've been wondering for a while and just not willing to commit without full knowledge.

Makes those pricey 553-us lowers look more appealing for the ability to drop in a lower that takes STANAG mags and retains the folding stock without modification to the upper.

Any reports of this modification to the upper causing reliability issues or weakness?

It has no efect on reliability at all, you can also notch the mags if you dont want to touch up the trunion with a file or dremel.

Yeah, that works :D. Daddy likes.

Been reading more into this and one of the few US owners of a Swiss dropped on a SIG-556 lower and claims it works with PMAGs just fine, no modification to the upper (which down there makes Canadian swiss prices look cheap I'm sure you're aware). Any truth to this claim you figure? With the prospect of polymer Beo mags I'm not dissapointed so much by the innability to not use LAR-15 10 rounders if this holds any truth.

Is there an exporter in the US that you guys with these lowers can recommend?

One of those importers are a sponsor here; IRUNGUNS.

Give them a try, I hear good things. Oh yeah one thing in return for the link, please try a drop in prior to modification and post your results :D.

Forgot to ask, isn't this a grey area leaning toward illegal (notching the mags that is) when used in conjunction with LAR-15 or other mags holding more than 5 rounds? I see this is the same technique the new SAN magwell adapter uses and I'm still on the fence on that, I want it to be legal but am still a little unsure as to modification of a mag to fit the new magwell (in this case lower). Thought this was totally illegal, would love to be proven wrong on this though.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal. Nothing even grey about it.

Modifying mags could easily lead to a prohibited device. Modifying your gun to fit the mag is A-Ok.

Nothing illegal about messing with the top of the magazine, the mags will still only hold 5 or 10 rounds. The only thing that would make a mag illegal would be to change the mag capacity.

I am not sure where this misconception comes from but read the act. It is illegal to modify a magzine to accept more rounds than legally allowed. It is illegal to manufacture a magazine to hold more rounds than legally allowed. There is no law that restricts any other modifications to magazines. Are you also concerned about Ranger plates on magazines, painting magazine bodies, applying numbers to the magazine ets (all modifications)?
