I have a question . I just did my black badge with a sig p226 in 9mm I love the platform and shoot really well with it. I was trying to track down a X-5 in 40 so I could shoot major. I reliezed I have a sig legion p226 SAO on order and hopefully will arrive shortly. Could I just swap out the barrel to a 40 cal barrel ? I have slide conversions but I have none in 40 so unsure if the demsions fit. Worst case I could just get a 40 cal conversion kit and swap out the parts. Any info would greatly be appreciated .

There is a great barrel conversion table on "Sig Talk" forum that does a good job of listing what barrels can be used in what slides. It is a sticky in the sig pistol forum. To use a 9mm barrel in a .40 (226) slide is not a problem. I have a .40 conversion slide and have used my 9mm barrel in it. Works fine and is not a "conversion" barrel. The extractor is different on the .40 but the 9 barrel will work with it. No slop or movement of the barrel and I have not had any issues with function or accuracy. Outside barrel diameter is the same on either barrel.

Had I known this before I would not buy a Sig pistol in 9mm. I would buy a .40, a 9mm barrel and spring and have both calibers. Would also need mags for 9mm. As stated by ianfroese the .40 will not work in the 9 mm slide.

You'll just have to sell me the 9mm Legion and buy a .40 :p

Seriously though- just buy the .40 and spare 9mm parts. If I could go back in time and do the same with my P226, I would have.

I have a p226 9mm da/sa already love I order the Sao version in 9mm I have not seen it advertised in 40 S&W yet I would get one in 40 if I could and use the 9mm slide from my other legion I would have best of both worlds.... FYI great review on the 229

RDSC is advertising a .40 Legion, but not in SAO. I haven't seen a .40 SAO one yet.

I have a 226 SA/DA as well that I too just shot my Black Badge with. I'm also a big fan, but I think if I'm going to do any IPSC stuff I'll be buying a P320 so I can avoid the first DA trigger pull, and having to deal with the hammer.

Thanks! I'm hoping that more people start picking Legions up, because they really are wonderful!
