The Sig Sauer website shows a couple of new variants on the basic Cross rifle:
https://www.sigsauer.com/firearms/rifles-pistols/cross.html

The Trax model was the only one that I found at all interesting...and even that one isn't something I would choose over the basic Cross model. The Trax is only 0.4 pounds lighter than the Cross, but loses all the easy adjustability of length of pull and cheekpiece height which are, IMHO, part of the appeal of the original rifle. Its pistol grip looks a bit too pared-down for comfort as well.

But...I see that the PRS model comes with a different magazine release, which has a paddle on both sides of the front of the trigger guard. This addresses one of the very few little irritating aspects of the original Cross. I find the original mag release inside the trigger guard awkward and uncomfortable to use; the newer PRS version looks very similar to the release used on Magpul's cheapo plastic bottom "metal" as used on their Hunter stocks...which I like. It's a nice compromise, IMHO, allowing very comfortable and easy ambidextrous use while still being low-profile and non-snag-prone, as a hunting rifle should be.

I'd love to get that release as an update for my Cross, and have already posted the question on their site. Looking forward to their response. It took me nearly a year to get my hands on the front handguard cover for my rifle; probably 2025 before I can get the upgraded release if it's even available. :(

I just wish to have more parts for the sig cross available here in Canada. I like the cross, worth the money for what it is.

The PRS and the STX both add the paddle mag release, two stage trigger and thumb shelf safety. The two stage trigger feels pretty good by my standards. I wish they offered something in between the weight of the STX and the PRS though, 7 to 14 lbs is a big difference. The barrel profile on the STX could be heavier for sure without going full truck axle like the PRS.
