Just wondering if anyone has done an e2 grip conversion on there P226. Is there any noticeable difference in the size of the grip? I have smaller hands, so when I'm shooting I cant quite reach the mag realease without changing my grip on the pistol.

I have one on order from Questar, from what I've read it makes a lot of difference! here's for hoping! I sold my M&P9 to "upgrade" to the 226 . . . I'm am regretting that decision right now, I hope the new grips will change that. I will do a review of pre and post grips on here if there is an interest . . .

Yes the grip size will decrease greatly when you change to E2.
So the "reach" will get better also as the diameter of the grip gets smaller.
If you have problems reaching the mag release or working the trigger with your finger E2 will solve that (have I mentioned how nice it looks)
Cheers

Funny, I went the other way. Bought a new Sig 226 E2 in May 2010. Medium hands and I found the E2 grip to small. Between the smaller grip and the short trigger the trigger was to close. It also forces your hand slightly lower on the grip compared to the regular grip as the most forward portion on the backstrap is lower. I switched to Houge checkered G10's and love them. Slightly slimmer than stock and great grip surface. FWIW.

I was actually thinking of buying an M&P pro. I like the idea of the adjustable backstraps. thought they may make enough of a difference.

I guess I probably should have mentioned that my P226 is the classic .22 version. will that make a difference of fitting or not?

No. But if your only problem is the mag realease and not the trigger, have you thought about going to an extanded mag release or switching it over to the right hand side of the gun?

I did think about an extended mag release, but I'm not sure it would help. Its not that I cant push it in far enough as that I just cant reach it. I didnt however think of switching it side for side. might be worth looking at. Thanks.

I put a set on one of my 226's last year and yes they do make a big difference. I kept the standard trigger and they fit my hand very nicely. If you have smaller hands they will work great for you.

Just upgraded my X Five with the E2 grip. Highly recommend it. The grip is smaller, thiner and the texture is more abrasive. It's easier to reach the mag realease with the new grip.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have a set on order. almost ordered a 9mm x-change kit at the same time, but decided to wait. better try out the grips before spending more money on something I may want to replace.

I have trouble to install mine. How did you do?

Which part of the installation are you having trouble with? I took my pistol most of the way apart to clean it as I was doing the install. The hardest part was trying to actually get the grip onto the frame. you just have to wiggle it and play with it. feed the tool up through the mag opening and twist it to spread the grips. I have to be honest though, the tool doesnt really help all that much. After I had the grip on all the way I had to lightly tap the top into place, otherwise it was slightly winged out at the top front.

Took it out shooting today. defenitely a different feel to the gun now. It was too cold and snowy to do much shooting though.
