Just bought a 226 that will be here soon and heard some internet rumble that saying that sig is having trouble with the mags made by checkmate, the problem was solve buying Mec Gar mags.
Any 226 owners have had trouble with the mags in a new made in USA sig? or is this just (more) internet noise...

I have both Mec Gar and Checkmate for my SIGs, and never had an issue with any of them. Do I prefer Mec Gar, yes but Checkmate have functioned fine for me. I did see on a SIG forum that it is what SIG has on hand that determines what is sent out, this has been my experience as well, getting both Mec Gar and Checkmate with new SIGs.

perfect, thank guys. Good to know.
It seems it is internet noise then, same ol' 1 guy complaining in all the forums wich makes good feed for google.

I have had no problems with my checkmate mags over 500 rounds through with zero issues.

Who sell Sig mags in Canada?
I checked with Questar and they have 2 in stock, they are SIG mags, probably original SIG but it seems it is hit and miss since you can get mec gar or checkmate.

Marstar Canada sells Mec-gar (out of stock at the moment) and I think there in Your area.

Internet noise ? I think not. Checkmate mags are substandard at best.

Go ahead and place a call to Sig to ask them. They are shipping Mec-Gar and checkmate mags. They have 2 suppliers to keep up with demand. Head on over to the Sig forums , you can't swing a cat without hitting a thread about checkmate mag problems. Even Sig will admit, they received many complaints about the checkmate mags. But as they have a contract in place and a huge demand, they is little they can do at the moment.

Right now, its the luck of the draw as to whether you get Mec-gar or Checkmate mags with your new 1000 plus pistol.

Hi

I have read this on SIG forums as well, I have not had this experience at all but not saying there is not an issue. I recently (within the last few years) switch employment, previously I carried a P226 as a secondary. When did SIG start using Checkmate? I remember all the mags issued to us were American made, so I assume they were Checkmate, they were not Mec-Gar. The mags we had functioned fine.
Like I said, I prefer Mec Gar, but never had an issue with Checkmate.

Have 10 Checkmate mags for my P226 all function fine, have a couple Mec-gar and they too are fine.

Has anyone actually experienced these issues firsthand? I too have read the chatter, but having had no issues with CM mags in thousands and thousands of rounds, i don't buy it. Maybe they fixed the issue? Maybe it was a bad run? Just 9mm? Why specifically are they 'substandard at best'?

Most of this 99.999999999% is internet BS! Like I said, I have NEVER had an issue with18 of them and 3 SIG handguns. Never one issue.

I do own both Mecgars and CM's also and find neither better than the other.
