Hi All, I just bought a sig mosquito and i'm not happy at all. I've tried several different types of ammo and this thing just does not want to eject or cycle consistently. I get 3-5 fte's or ftf's per mag. Called the dealer in B.C. and they said that it worked great when they fired it but it liked high velocity ammo. I've dealt with them several times and don't think they wou7ld be pulling my chain but has anyone else had this issue? If so, what solved it? I was thinking of polishing the feed ramp for the cycling issue but that wont help FTE issue.

I never owned a Sig mosquito but I saw at least 3 at the range, and fired one of them once.
I would say that the problem you are experiencing is NORMAL. Every Sig mosquito I saw were doing so and driving there owner nuts. The one sig I tried the Owner had it check a couple time at the dealer (store) and they made many mod trying to fix the problem (springs, mag and polishing) last time I saw it the gun was newly polished and seems to be a bit better (cycle problem every 2-3 magasine) for the first 200 rounds then it started acting again every mag.

Good luck with yours

I had the same issues with my Mosquito not being able to shoot a single magazine without some sort of malfunction (stovepiping, fail to eject, fail to feed, slide not locking back after last round). It, also, didn't like the CCI Stingers or Mini-Mags. Some CGN'ers have reported that they take a while to 'break in'. I have other .22lr pistols that function with no problems right out of the box and didn't want to 'tinker' with it so I brought it back for a store credit after the first range session (500 rounds of various ammo). Good luck. YMMV.

I used approx 500 rounds of CCI Mini Mags to break in the pistol. Now I use the Fed Value Packs and any problems are rare. Make sure you are using the correct spring. Mine works like a charm.

It really really pissed me off to no end when I first got mine. CCI Velocitor .22 were the trick. Sometimes.........kinda.........

Yeessssh.......then again all is well now. Horrible break in period. I really dig the laser sight though.

I had the same issue to start off. broke it on cci mini mags and it now eats anything i feed it, including bulk ammo

The only reasons for Mosquitos to not work properly, is bad ammo. PERIOD

They are good, but there are some many kinds and brands of .22lr out there, some need the hammer to hit it 3 times to go off, it's the owner's responsability to find the right ammo for his gun.

and in the time of ammo shortages and availability issues, (lebarons by my house consistently sells out 9mm) its not very nice to have a gun that is so freekin picky, frankly thats a lot of cash for such a picky gun....makes me reconsider the 22lr kit for my glocks

So Sig puts a gun on the market that will not work reliably with the majority of the ammo out there, and you say it is the owner's fault their gun doesn't work? Would you feel the same way if your car only ran properly on one particular brand of gas?

Then can you explain why some .22lr pistols such as my Beretta 87T, Ruger MkII and some others I've shot such as the Browning Buckmark, Walther P22 and S&W 22 all worked well right out the box with maybe 1 to 4 malfunctions per 100 rounds during break in and not per magazine like the Mosquito?

My Sig has put about 2000 rds of CCI minimag with only 2 failures (which were operator error I think, I wasn't shooting).
I don't like ANYTHING else, EXCEPT Federal Bulk Ammo from Walmart. Unfortunately this stuff is dirty so after a couple hundred rounds the gun has to be cleaned. You definitely need to have the lighter spring in. I believe of the two supplied it was the one with blue gunk on it. It was also the one installed on the weapon.

You have to clean and lubricate it (per the manual's instructions).

The only reason for THE CLEAN AND LUBRICATED Mosquito to not work properly, is bad ammo. PERIOD

I fixed it for you.

If it wasn't for the superfluous parts, meaning the magazine disconnector and the slide-mounted safety, the Mosquito could have been a nice first pistol.

Sig didn't desing a gun that doesn't work. You need to use quality ammunition with it, that means the cheap family pack from wally world isn't performing good enough for the gun. I saw one guy using CCI Stingers at the range a while ago, it was very unreliable before that, but I can tell you it eats CCI ammo very well and likes it.
Just like Deseart Eagles that don't work all the time, it's because of bad ammo, the manufacturer didn't desing a gun that doesn't work.

Use quality ammo and your gun will work. If you're a cheap a$$ and don't want to buy quality ammo, it's your problem. Stop whining.

I have a Sig Mosquito and it is finicky with ammunition - no denying that but the Ruger 10/22 and Mark 2 pistol I had were sometimes finicky too. I find it odd that so many people expect a .22LR semi to operate perfectly using whatever ammunition they can find which frequently = the cheapest. Semi-auto pistols (across the board) need good ammunition and any semi can jam with poorer quality stuff. I shoot tons of Dynapoints through my Mosquito and it jams but I accept it as I am asking the pistol to digest stuff that isn't even individually package but comes in a big jumbled box. 22LR is the most diverse ammo and bullets/cases can vary in shape from manufacturer to manufacturer let alone within the same lot. Considering that most people in a few sessions will literally dump 100's if not thousands of rounds of cheap rimfire rounds through a mosquito, it is unrealistic to expect the pistol operate 100 percent unless you are using some really good ammo.

Martin: BTW the Glock conversion also stipulates a type of ammo to be fed into it as well (I believe it is Thunderbolts/CCI Minimags as well - read the box provided by AA Conversion)

Just my 2 cents.
