Sig MPX

To quote a friend of mine who had the chance to handle Sigarms MPX: the idea of a gas-operated 9mm SMG is just plain :bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug:ing stupid. It's not gonna work. This has nothing to do with the gun or the operating system, but the gas pressure of the 9mm used for police and military is just on a too wide range.

is it a variant of the mp5? or any prohibited firearm?

No... MP5 is made by H&K not SIG, and this is totally new.

In order for it to be prohibited, it will depend on the manufacturers method of making the firearm full-auto.

If the recievers of the semi-auto only version will accept the select-fire assy from the full-auto versions and function, it's doomed.

As for semi-auto only versions... Watch the model descriptions closely, 2 models are available in semi-auto.

Good eye, as for the whole gas system, is it really that bad? If its good enough for them, its good enough for me at the range shooting paper.

If 9mm is powerful enough for delayed rollers and is too powerful for straight blowback, then it stands to reason there is enough energy to cycle the action with gas.

Yawn. This will be another firearm that will show up 2 years from now and be $2500. With a 5 round mag and a full stock

No thanks.............

i wonder if CGN user SUPTIN is pissed that they came out with his short buffer/ collapsible stock. LOL

Why would it come with a fixed stock? That legally would make no difference...right? Its just a matter of whether it can accept a FA action which would ban it, and length which would restrict it.

But yes I do agree it will take a few years to get here if possible, and yeah it will be expensive. But nonetheless , I want it.

There are lots of straight blowback SMGs (and even semi-auto rifles like the Ruger PC9 and Beretta Storm). One problem with them is that the breechblock has to be fairly heavy to slow down the opening of the breech when firing until the pressure has dropped, which makes for a real "clunk-clunk" feel to the recoil. Having gas operation (or roller locked like an MP5) means that the reciprocating parts can be much lighter which makes for less clunky recoil. The video showed that fairly well, I think.
