Sig P220 in 9mm new?

Yes and no...you will not likely find a P220 in 9mm new in Canada. You might find a refurb.

There are still new 9mm P220s however. In Germany and other european countries, the P220 like all P22x series guns can be bought as a change or swap system. For the P220, you can swap between a 45acp and 9mm para and can buy the slide separate.

I don't see it listed by Sauer in Germany.

How is a 9mm 226 different from a 9mm 220?

Double stack magazine vs single stack. P226 9mm production is the norm. It is possible that they may fire up production of 9mm P220s for Japan, or a Swiss police force, but it is unlikely to ever be a catalogue item again.

Redleg,

yeah I'm not sure where you might find it on the Sauer website but it is available for the regular P220 and the Xzone version....as a 'wechselsystem'

Does Sig currently sell P220 (new or factory refurb) in 9mm??? Or were they made only in older european versions?
The batch of new 9mm 220's with american mag release that are being sold in Canada date to 1995. I picked one up about 4-5 years ago when they were selling for $600. Not too hampered here in Canada with the 9 round single stack mag. If I can get the courage up, I'm going to try filing down one of the followers to see if I can get 10 in the mag. At $65 a mag though, I'm leary to do anything permanant.
