I've put about 15,000+ rounds through my Sig P220 (9mm), and was wondering when i should change my main spring? I'm sure it weakons over time and i don't want cause preventable damage to this gun.
My 20 year old Sig 220, .45ACP, has more than 75,000 rounds through it. I still use the same main spring. That spring was out of the gun once, when Robar had it for NP3.
I replace the recoil spring about every 5,000 rounds.
they say every 5k - 10k or so but it's not neccessary, my CZ-75 had 50k through befor i finally changed the main spring, it just that as the spring gets more and more use the recoil gets harder and harder on the metal on metal contact of the slide and frame, i have Springco systems in all my pistols to minimize this.
