I want to adjust the fixed sight on my sig p226, don't now anything about sight adjustment tools. I assume they are not universal, do I have to look for a paticular type?? any advide would be most helpful.
Thanks.

Sight tool

Sig makes a specific tool for adjusting for windage on there handguns and elevation is changed by changing to a new sight front or rear of a different number.
Some universal tools will work for sigs if you can find one. Brownells sells a sig tool that works very well but is a bit pricey.
I definitely would not try moving the sights without the right tool most sig sight are set pretty tight and you will mark up your gun.

Hope that helps

Has anyone here tried to adjust P226 fixed Rear site?

(tap with a brass punch etc...?)

Yep I did it no problems so far. The rear sight on my CPO was slightly off center and the gun was shooting to the left so I wanted to adjust it. Took the slide off the gun, put a cloth under it to prevent marking then with a pair of plastic clamps I held it on the table. Few taps from a punch and a hammer and everything was good as center. No marks, no evidence. No issues and it works perfectly fine. This all said I plan on getting a set of 3-dot night sights as the dot the i setup of the SIG is not my preference. That being said my front sight fell out the dovetail the other day which means its become loose, but some lock tight has been holinding that fine till I get a new set)

BTW, I am way to cheap to buy a sight pusher (if I could even find one, a few guys on this board have one and if you are really set on using one just borrow it and pay the shipping)

 Thanks Scotty...I'll give it a go. (I have the same issue you had....shootin' left. I let a buddy of mine try it out today and he had the same issue. Tight groupings to the left).

-Thanks for the quick reply, and thanks again to CGN. It is great that we can share info&tips and help each other out on these forums so readily. Cheers:cheers:

Ive just take the factory sights of my 226 with a hammer and punch with no problem and am replacing them with some fibre optic sights. The new fibre optic sights Im told need to be installed with a sight pusher as they may not be able to take the impact of a hammer and punch.

I now have a sight pusher enroute so I can install them properly.
