I had this posted up in the gunsmithing section, but with only 10 views and no reply posts, I figured I'd try posting my question here.

I own an older West German made Sig P226 (1984) that I picked up on here last year.

The gun is in great shape, however, it appears to have a wear mark (approx. 1/4" X 2 1/2") on the left side of the slide. I'm guessing it is from a holster, or perhaps a printed logo was removed by buffing the area.

I've been debating getting the slide refinished to restore the gun for a while.

However, I am not aware of who can do this type of work, and also do a good quality job. I know Sig can refinish the slide, I visited their US web site, and they offer slide refinishing using their black Nitron. But I dread the thoughts of shipping a gun part to/from the US!

I think the older Sig slides were Parkerized black, opposed to the Nitron finish they use now, but I am not sure on this. I see that Arma-Coat can parkerized, and I've read some other people have used a black Ion finish to refinish pistols as well.

If anyone can suggest a shop, or gunsmith that can do this work, please post up some suggestions. I live in southern Ontario, so a local person/shop would work better, as shipping may not be involved.

Thanks.

Barret over at Arma-Coat does amazing work, he just did my M14...

I recommend you Parkerize then Arma-Coat Matte Black, this will give you two layers of protection, and it will be fairly cheap to do just the slide. The end result is a flawless and tough finish. You won't be disapointed....
