Need some help from the SIG gurus, can someone supply a clear photo of how to tell the difference between a stamped P226 slide and a machined one. I am about to purchase one and want to be able to notice the difference asap.

From what I am told the 225 I believe it is stamped together?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The stamped slide has a separate breech face while the machined slide has an integral breech face. There is a roll pin through the stamped slide that hods the breech in place. IRRC the milled slides also have external extractors instead of an internal one.

MRCLARK,

Here is a photo from Sigforum.com. The stamped slide is on the left and the milled slide is on the right.

Hope that helps.

I can get into a nice 226 for about a grand after tax?

The ones that I have handled in the States seem very nice. Many are very lightly used, and are back from the factory. You can save a lot of money by buying a gun with a round count equivalent to your first range session! :dancingbanana:
