I am a new owner of a sig p226 and I would like to reduce my single action trigger pull weight and was wondering if replacing the sear spring with a lighter one would accomplish this. If so are there after market outlets that provide varieties of these springs for a variety of weight. I would like to end up at about a 2 lb trigger pull. Thanks.

Replacing the mainspring will effectively reduce both the da and sa pull weight(if you have a da/sa that is). Haven't done it yet on any of mine, but it's coming. The story goes Sig over engineers the spring weight so that twenty years later when the spring looses tension, the pistol still fires reliably. Poor mans trigger job, you just purchase a spring.

If you want better, you'll have to take it to a smith.

I don't think you are going to get a 2lb trigger pull just by swapping springs. The easiest way to drop the pull weight a little would be to change the stock mainspring to a lighter one. Factory I think is 24lbs. I bought the Wolff mainspring pack which includes a 17lb, 18lb and 19lb mainspring. Going too light might mean light primer strikes, which is what happened to me when I used the 17lb.

Edit: Damn it, I type too slow.
