SIG P229 What are they worth? Overall thoughts.

I have the opportunity to pick up a SIG P229 with an extended barrel (restricted only). What is a fair price? What is a prohibited one (normal length barrel) worth?

If you have any experience shooting one what are your thoughts.

Well that's too general a question. What are gun is worth is always judged by condition of the firearm plus what additions due to the current demand of the gun(ie popularity) and in the case of government intervention here as well(ie because of standard barrel length, there aren't a huge number of the compact P22xs in Canada--).

Typically, a P229 is worth about the same as a P226 in my opinion. Due to the other factors, you may add whatever you like in additional worth.

It was a safe queen and is NIB two mags and sig case. So around $1150 or so?
 
My Sig is a 12.6 .If you can get one for 1150 grab it .One thing to keep in mind is that mags are hard to come by . I also have a spare barrel avialable if you need one .
 
They are worth nothing and as I am a kind and caring person I will be nice enough to give you a case of beer for it. :D

Lots of people in the States rave about their's on the various gun forums.
 
FWIW, Giovanni's gunshop in Toronto has a used restricted-conversion P229 for sale on consignment. The gun is in exc. condition and is .40 cal. The stainless extended barrel is not threaded. It is currently listed for sale at $950 (reduced from $1200.) It has been sitting for sale in Giovanni's cabinet for almost two years.

I'd say it depends on who made the barrel, as it's obviously not original.
