how interchangable are sig parts. can i switch parts between p226 frames, without serious problems, this goes for old earlier frames to new later frames.

have sig p226 frames change at all over time, or not at all (except for the addition of the rail), just the springs and grips changed???.

obviously slides can differ from the early stamped to the later milled.

anyhow cheerio...

Parts

For the most part the frames have stayed the same with the exception of the "Main Spring Seat" as the older models used a roll pin to attach them to the frame. The newer design is one plastic piece and much easier to work with.
I'm not sure if the "Hammer Strut" from these two designs would be interchangable either.
The grips from the older straight "trigger Spring" cannot be used with the new coil trigger spring design without some dremell work as well.
I would be very carefull mixing parts especially ones from an old frame with a folded steel slide to a new stainless slide as small differences in wear etc. may cause problems. I could easily see this happening with the "safety lever" failing to engage the "firing pin safety lock".

I would check on the Brownells website under SIGARMS factory parts. It usually will tell you which parts are good to go throughout the new/old guns and which don't. It would not hurt to check out the Sig Forum as well for more detailed info.
