Yes, I'm sure it's been talked about in some manner...I know there is a search button...but...

A lot of people try to compare the Sig Pro series with the HK USP, only to get quick rebuttals from others that the USP is more comparable to the P22x series. In many cases, this is largely true...here in North America they are priced similarly and both are the iconic models of their respective brands.

However, in Germany this is not really the case. Sigs in Germany are rather much more expensive and even the Sig Pro costs more than a simple USP. This has a lot to do with the fact that most Sigs found in North America are marked NH built while HKs are made in Germany and Sigs sold in Germany are made in Germany. In addition, while I like the USPs quite much, the reputation of the HKs are simply mediocre(well good duty guns) but Sigs have a higher class reputation. (FYI USPs typically go for 700-750€ while Sig Pros are in around 850€ and basic P22x models are around 1100-1200€)

While Canadians generally won't have much experience with Sig Pros unless something like threaded barrel versions become wide available, what are your feelings about it? If you fancy ''tupperware'' pistols, would you choose ´Sig Pros?.....eg USP Compact vs Sig Pro?

A Sigpro 2009 was my very first own pistol.
Bought it because it was a affordable 9mm SIG.

Well, to say the least, ever since I bought it I keep saying: don't buy "cheap".

The later series are good from what I've heard, but mine had a serious issue.
As soon as I laid the pistol on the bench (usually on the righthand side), the bolt hold open button was pushed out. (Hope you guys understand what I mean, it's a bit hard to explain for me). After a while the slide wouldn't stay open after the last round.

I eventually traded it for a P228, which was quite a good deal.
That was four years ago, I still have the P228 and I'm happy with it.

Sorry guys...I figured he'd understand German better, even though he's Swiss(joke)

''Hi Hamster,

I had only a little experience with the Sig Pro Pistol and only shot it a few times and in essence, I prefer the P22x. However for a lower priced service pistol like say the K100 from Grand Power or the G17 from Glock, is the Sig Pro worth its price? In Germany the Sig Pro costs more than a USP but in North America, it's simply a cheap plastic gun. Some also believe that the Pro is not comparable with the USP and Glocks.''

Basically, I just wanted to stir up some feelings about it. I understand that in the US, Pros can be had for very little money. So where do you guys feel it stands and how does it hold up. Less on ''my XD is better..period'' but rather more on why's and how's....

btw, are the Sig Pro's (SP2022) currently available in Canada as a restricted firearm? -just that personally I have never seen any of the retailers listing them in their inventory:confused:

I don't know, but they would have to be equipped as such:

Don't get your juices flowing...I don't mean the short barrel nor the silencer....just the threaded barrel version.

We brought in a few with extended threaded barrels. They were pretty expensive as a result. We have been trying to get cheaper ones here, but the powers that be (Nichols and SIGARMS) are doing everything possible to prevent it for some reason.
I have run a SIG Pro on the range for 2 years now. It has worked particularly well and out lasted 3 or 4 Glocks. Yes there is a problem with the slide stop popping out, but this was fixed by replacing the retaining spring at a cost of $2.
