Anyone running a Romeo1 on their IPSC shooter?

Looking at picking up one for my Tanfoglio Ltd Custom on a frame mount. Is the DeltaPoint Pro worth the $200. more?

For Open, you want the biggest window you can get and a bright dot typically in 6 or 8 MOA. The larger the glass, the easier it is to track the dot under recoil. Dots that are two small can wash out in bright light and are more difficult to acquire in fast shooting. I also would recommend against triangle style dots as your aiming point will change with distance and you really don't want to have think about that when shooting.

Check out the FTP Alpha Optics 2 and 3 we sell. They have all the features you want and at a great price:

I have both. Used the Romeo on my 320X5 last year for production optics up here and carry optics down south. The Leupold is a more robust sight in general if that matters to you. Both of mine were small dots(2moa I believe). They both have a rear notch for iron sight usage, though the Delta Points was an add on item(90 bucks). If you're not too hard on your equipment you can get away with the Sig but the extra cash spent on the Delta will buy some peace of mind. My current setup is Holosun 507c on my IPSC gun, Delta Point on a Glock 19 and Romeo on a 45° mount on my PCC. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. Cheers.

Thanks for the info folks. I'm learning towards the DPP right now in 3.5mil. I have a Vortex Venom in 3.5mil dot on a Sig 226 and I don't mind the finer dot. I'm reading that the DPP is plenty bright in bright daylight.

The 2yr warranty on the DPP and having a pretty solid track record is hard to pass up. Figured I would splurge.

Hey BMcDee, are you running your RDS on the slide or frame mount?

I started Production Optics with a Vortex Viper and then learned window size was everything with these optics. That led me to the 2.5 MOA Deltapoint Pro, much bigger window but for whatever reason their dot was terrible for my astigmatism and all I saw was. a kidney shaped flare. From there I went to the FTP Alpha Optic 2 which was a night and day upgrade from the Vortex and a nice upgrade from the dpp, slightly taller window and the 6 MOA dot was much quicker for me. The other thing much nicer on the Alpha Optic is the controls, I never liked the dot brightness controls on the DPP.

I now have the Alpha Optic 2 on both of my Open guns, haven't tried the Alpha 3 because it won't fit my mounts due to the blast shield. When my new open gun arrives I am going to try the Alpha 3 in 8 MOA.

The Romeo mounted right the the slide, the Holosun needs an adapter plate that I got from Springer Precision. My understanding is that for IPSC, a frame mount puts you in open. Mounting to slide via milling or plate allows you to shoot production optics. Is the Tangfo a .40. If so you could likely shoot open no problem especially if you can attach a brake.

I'd be waiting for the new Romeo Max 3 to hit the market, and compare that to the Trijicon, which seems to be the most durable.

Thanks Slavex. I just came across the Romeo 3 Max thread on Brainenos. Looks nice. I think I will wait.

the "FTP OPTICS ALPHA 3" is already available and has the same capabilities as the "soon to be released Romeo 3 Max", similar size window, turn on/off with movement, shares the same footprint as the RTS2 etc etc.....not only that but it has already got a good reliability success rate......the smaller brother of the Alpha 3 is basically a clone of a CMore RTS2 and is called the "FTP OPTICS ALPHA 2" and it also has a good reliabiltiy success rate (CMore finally got it right with their Version 4 of the RTS2 after years of failures with Versions 1,2,3)........Possibly you may wish to try these out instead (and save some money) as you may wait quite a while to get your hands on the upcoming Romeo 3 MAX (which hopefully should be reliable but is yet unproven, given the failure rate of the Romeo 1 you never know (also more reported failures of Deltapoint Pro))

The glass size on the SRO is very similar to the glass on the FTP Alpha Optics 3 :) We will have more available in about two months and are accepting pre-orders.
