Hi Everybody,

Just been checking out USA SIG Sauer's 2012 product photos and notice the hollow recoil spring guide rods.

Does anybody know if they've completely went back to using hollow metal guide rods? or did they just put in a metal guide rod just for the photo op?

Likewise, I've also noticed that some the 2012 photos feature guns with "frame made in Germany" on them. Again, did they just put that on for a photo op? Or are they importing them from Germany again due to demand and/or quality?

I'm a SIG fan so like most people I was really disappointed that after the 2008 economy crash, they went to plastic guide rods, sold guns with just one magazine, included crappy magazines, and generally suffered in the QC department (probably due to reduced wages and/or staff). And I'm not just saying that; I once had a brand new P226 E2, completely made in USA, that was unacceptably sub-par compared to a P226 that was 2 years older.

Anyways, really hoping that SIG of America can get their act back together and repair their reputation.

Anybody attending show please let us know about the guide rods and German frames! :)

I have a new 226 TacOps...manufactured in October 2011. The guide rod is metal and it is hollow. This is my first Sig so I'm not sure if this is normal for the 226's or not. Having never owned a Sig or been around them much before I have to admit that I'm quite pleased and impressed with the fit and finish. Everything looks pretty darn good. I haven't had a chance to fire the pistol yet though.
