No they aren't. I spoke to MDC about this when they were in Edmonton. The 226 Legion is in Canada though. I know this because I have a pre-order for the 229 Legion.

My Legion P226 SAO arrives today so I'll be distracted for a bit.

I like mine and it was cool having the first one, but it's not that big of a difference IMO. I have a 226 Legion as well (for sale) and the difference between the two in my hand is fairly minimal. I didn't realize until I bought a 229 that dimensionally the two guns aren't that different. Plus I hate having Pinocchio barrels!

I considered a P226 Legion over the P229 Legion but with a German P226 LDC inbound I opted for something a little different.
