Sig Sauer Kilo 2000 vs Vortex 1500 rangefinders

Ive got a Sig 2000, Ive ranged a tractor at 1760 yards..was impressed. Im not impressed that mine goes into sleep mode and have to pull the batteries all the time to use it. There have been a number of issues with these. Was Sig had a warranty like Vortex.

Kilo 2000 discontinued. Replaced by 2200. Another interesting thing happened at SHOT SHOW. I talked to the guy at SIG's booth that runs the 2400ABS program, and he said (in January) they were having some issues with the 2400 ABS units, and that if he were me, he'd wait for a few months before buying one so they can sort out the "issues".... First time ever someone from the factory tells me to not buy their product NOW....

So this happens alot? Like the sig freezes up and u have to pull batteries to reset it?

Happens to me all the time. Ive used all brands of batteries, all were new..same issues. I'm not impressed with its reliability at all but when it does work its pretty amazing. I paid $300 US for mine so I can live with it...I wouldnt pay what the CND retailers are asking.

I tried googling the issue.... on the Sig. Can't find anything. Nothing but rave reviews. Maybe a lemon in the batch?

Also shows on the sig website... in list of products. Can't find mention of discontinued.

It's been removed from their 2017 Catalog. Now only the 850, 1250, 2200MR and 2400ABS.

And this is the email reply I got from Sig in December when I asked about the 2000... "The Kilo 2000 is being replaced by the new 2200MR and we are also adding 3 other new models - Kilo 850, Kilo 1250 and 2400 ABS. We’ll have pricing and availability on those models in the next few weeks after SHOT SHOW in mid January"

Even the new 2400 ABS has issues if you do some reading. Anything electronic and taken outside in various conditions is bound to give you problems. Some brands alot more then others.

I like my Kilo 2000. It ranges quite well and I've never had freezing issues with it like mentioned above. Even in -20 weather, I never had the screen go blank and freeze like my previous Bushnell rangefinders.

I had the same issue as Scott with my Kilo. Ranged really well but went into sleep mode all the time. Sent it back to Prophet River and should have a new one shortly!
