SIG-SAUER Mosquito Sport 22?

My Mosquito works great. Having said that, the first time I took it out, it did not fire a single shot! However, it was in storage for a loooong time before that (bought it used, but in new condition). After a thorough lubricating, it has worked flawlessly since. There is a bunch of writeups on the net about how to make them reliable, and usually all it takes is lots of lubrication for the first couple hundred rounds until they are broken in.
It did not like 15 year old ammunition... I now shoot Remington Viper 22LR exclusively through it, and like I said, not a single failure.

I don't think neither the mosquito or the cadet would give you bragging rights but if you want to get better shooting pistol the feel might make a difference.
Maybe I should of suggested a dart gun from the dollar store. lol

I had a mosquito for almost a year. It is picky on ammo. I had to use Mini Mags to break it in, approx 500 of them. It comes with two springs, you need to play around with them. After the break in it cycled well for a 22LR. The craftmanship is no where near "real" Sig quality thats forsure. There have been some QC issues with slides cracking. The trigger is horrible, I say again horrible. I would not recommend. I think there are better options out there. Many guns you can get a 22 Kit for, and there is a Sig line that is 22LR and way above the mosquito IMO. They retail at Questar for approx 600 and some change.

Mini Mags are pricey around our neck of the woods and hard to get too.

Here's a link from the SIG Forum on the Skeeter: http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/430601935/m/54410021 Tons of info to go through (thanks to Mississippi Dave) but well worth it if your looking to get your hands on one. I agree with CdnCombatMedic, the trigger is crap! I've taken apart the Skeeter many times to polish, buff and file down the internal parts as much as possible to smooth out and reduce the trigger pull. You might also want to check out the Ruger Mk III. It's a great .22 with a lot of after market accessories and eats any ammo I feed it. Just my 2 cents....

CZ Kadet is an excellent choice. Mine has been flawless, even with the cheaper win333 ammo. I have about 1000 rds through it. It is on the more expensive side though.

I have a Kimber 22 target 1911 the gun looks and feels nice its the same size 1911 commander. It took about 1000 rounds to break it in but now functions flawlessly, ther a little pricey but have a good resale.

On a side note I wanted a sig mesquito before I purchased the kimber but felt it was too small for my hands and I hated the fact the barrel extends "1/2 out of the muzzle, this was done to meet canadian regs the US model has a 4" barrel and fits flush which looks better.

I have a Browning Buckmark URX and a S&W 617. Both are fantastic. The S&W is a ton of fun to shoot and because it is a revolver it will eat any ammo you give it. The Buckmark is a great gun and shoots well but feels a little light to me. It took about 500 rnds to break it in (2 fail to feed, 5-10 stovepipes) but it now eats everything i give it. Both have their issues with cleaning. The buckmark can be a bit of a chore to do a full take down but you tube is your friend. The 617 is stainless so it can be frustrating if you are useing a s%$#ty solvent but its so much fun to shoot, it is a never sell gun.

What ammo do you use in your Buckmark? Do you find it necessary to use high velocity ammo to prevent “stove pipes?” I hate my Buckmark, simply because it was highly recommended and I fingered it would work right out of the box, which it didn’t.

This is the first gun I bought and I basically set it aside because I didn’t enjoy shooting it with all the issues, so it has VERY FEW rounds through it. Now that I’m a little more experienced and realize it needs some breaking in, I’m thinking about using it again.

I use Federal champion 40grain and Blazer 40grain. Only because it is the only 40grain ammo I can find in Timmins that comes in bulk. When I go to visit my family in Toronto I try to pick up match/target ammo. I dont use hyper-velocity ammo in any of my 22 pistols, can be bad for the barrels and especially bad for the springs in some semi's. The sig for example comes with 2 springs for this reason.

cz Kadet awesome a little pricey but sometimes you get what you pay for! I also have a browning buckmark contour which works flawlessly and is alot of fun. Right now Blueline also has a GSG 1911 22 lr which is getting nothing but positive feedback at this point but is still new to the market but the price is $379.00
