Guys, thanks for all your interest in this platform. We think this will be a good seller and we’re really looking forward to getting them in.
So that energies can be diverted to speculating about other very important issues here on CGN, here are the facts as of today:
1. The MPX, despite the fact that we shot one almost 18 months ago and the marketing machine has been running wild, has only just started rolling down the production line. Prototypes had been made and wheeled out to shows, test fired, etc… but actual production guns have not been available. Sig has been working out kinks and ensuring that they go to market with a product worthy of stamping their name on the side of it. We have had samples on order for some time now and have been pressuring the factory, but at this point, we must patient.
2. When the MPX first came into existence we asked that an FRT be created for it and since we didn’t have a sample to provide pictures or technical specifications, they are listed as prohibited because there is a Full-Auto version. When we get an actual production model into the country, we will make an application for an FRT for the semi-auto only version and see how it goes.
3. We can only make a request for the FRT be created. We cannot influence the decision making process in any way. No amount of complaining, emailing them, writing letters, yelling and screaming or sending them cookies seems to change the outcome. We simply supply specifications for the firearms and they sometimes request pictures of various parts of the gun. We might also have to provide a sample for them to physically examine. Until we go through the process, we have no idea what the outcome might be or how long it might take.
4. While many things can change in the pricing from now until we go to market with actual production guns, expect a retail price between $2600-2900 each subject to change.
5. The version of the MPX that is currently available is the 9”, semi-auto only. We will also be bringing the pistol version in and long term the 16” gun as well. As it is a short barrel rifle in the US, it is listed as LE/Mil only for that market. As it is longer than 102mm, barrel length will not be problematic in Canada.
6. Conversion kits to other calibers are planned as part of the program, but at this point they are further down the road.
While we are happy to answer questions about this platform, please understand that it is early days and that all will become clearer as we work to bring this to market.
