SIG SHR Tactical

We have run them on the last three precision rifle courses we have run. Accuracy has been outstanding.

What caliber are you using and what trigger/trigger group.

How about 6.5 x55 Swede or other 6.5mm calibers?

I have 2 SHR's and am considering getting a tactical barrel to use for LR. I know a person who will sell me a tactical stock for the heavy barrel.

for the courses 308. I also have a 223 barrel for varmints. 6.5x55 is an option but I don't regularly stock it.

I have a an SHR with the Macmillan stock and barrel for the STR. So it is essentially a STR in .308. It is very accurate 300yrds-1.5inch group. Unfortunately SIG won't sell the STR to civilians anymore. But if you can find a SHR action, you can still buy the barrel from them. All you need is the macmillan stock. You might also want a smith to properly float the barrel etc.
One drawback is aftermarket parts. You would probably be better off buying something like a remington just because of parts availability. Or even better look at building something custom based on the rem 700 action

Not sure what your concerns are concerning parts. The rifles are still in production by Swiss Arms, and we stock all the parts.

Is there a different bolt/boltface for 223 compared to 308? And what about the magazine?

Any other parts that are different or needed for the switch?

Is there more than one action length?

All actions are long. If the cartridges that you choose have differing bolt head diameters you will need a new bolt too. Most cartridges require a new magazine.

Hmm you stock all the parts? I did not know that. Do you sell the complete rifle too? My statement about parts was because there are so many options for Rem 700 stuff and relatively few for the Sig.

See www.theshootingedge.com photo album for details on the rifles. You are correct that there are more after market items available for the Rem 700s. However, if you are worried about parts replacement for repair, there are no concerns.
