Need grips for my new P226, wanted wooden ones preferably the nice Sig redwood, anybody know a decent local supply to get them? thanks:D
 
I don't know of a local source but there always seems to be somebody selling them on E-Bay. Have you had a chance to try them? They are considerably thicker, which is probably why so many are being sold.
 
My 229SAS came with a set of wood grips, and I love them. Recently, I purchased a set of aluminum grips from Hogue. They kick ass. I really can't decide if I prefer the extra thickness of the wood, or the thin aluminum. I shoot just as good with either grip. So I suggest getting a pair of aluminum grips AND a set of wood grips. :D

Epps has (had?) Hoguerosewood grips in stock last week. Now that they've moved all the fishing/camping crap to the other store, ther's more room for gun stuff! :D

They can be found in the EE to from time to time, that's where I got the set for my P220.
 
What are your hands like? Do they look like they could choke an average-size rhinoceros? If they don't, I would not recommend wood grips (either factory or Hogue) for the 226.

I can't say for sure but they feel MUCH thicker. My hands size is slightly above average, and with stock grips, the P226 fits me perfectly. With Hogue rosewood panels, the grip is way too wide. Even the Desert Eagle feels better in the hand.

Interesting. I have small-ish hands and felt that the rosewood grips were a big improvement on my P220. Mind you, I was replaceing a Crimson-trace grip set.
 
My (for now) P229 Equinox came with the wood grips and they feel just a bit off for me.

Still a great gun but feel that the overall look of the gun would be ruined if I put on the stock grips which are "perfect" for me.

P220 has a single stack mag, which leads to a naturally thinner grip. I was talking about P226.

Of course. I would expect the overall grip size of a P226 and a P220 to be different. But all other things being equal, I was comparing plastic vs wood on the same gun; a P220. The wood grips just felt thinner.

Yeah I havent shot a 226 in many years....looking forward to my new one coming in soon. I like the look of wood grips..sure there are better options out there..but wood is nice..
