Sig X-Six... Opinions Wanted...

Hey All

After some ogling and drooling, I am considering ordering a Sig X-Six SL in 45 ACP...

I have been told they are the ultimate in 45 pistols, but as I have never held one and it is a lot of coin, I was wondering if anyone here has ever handled one or has an opinion???

I have handled a couple, but not fired one. A large pistol, but very well balanced IMO.
The fit and finish is superb, as you would expect for the money.

I have fired the X-Six in 9mm (P226) many times but not the .45 (P220). If the 45 version is half the gun the 9mm is, you have a winner. The trigger is set around 2.5 pounds out of the box and breaks like a glass thread. In the right hands (not mine) this gun can group the size of a quarter at 25 yards.

The X-Six is joy to hold and even more so to shoot. If you can afford it, get one. Show us some pics if/when you do.
 
I too have had the chance to try various of the "X" pistols from SIG, mostly the X-Fives in 9mm, and they are the refinement of the SIG pistol design to the highest possible level. The action of the slide-to-frame is amazingly smooth, as are the triggers, double and single. The difference between the standard SIGs and the X-series is like the difference between a stock G.I. 1911, and a custom shop 1911. The X-fives and X-sixes are handbuilt and refined to perfection. No slop, no trigger creap or anything like that.
 
I recently had the opportunity to "handle" various "higher end" Sig Pistols. I thought the X series(9mm) felt good and the trigger was good
until I put a Sig P210 Legend in my hand...WOW. It felt very natural to point and the balance was near perfect.( for me with smaller hands)
The trigger was also much crisper and better overall than the X series. Of course this is just one persons opinion and applies for 9mm only.
 
Too much coin for the Sigs. Plus the Sig X5 and the X6 do not have a front barrel bushing. That said, they are competent competitors. However, you will get much more bang for your buck at around half the price for a STI TargetMaster. In 9mm and 45, TargetMasters are pure 1911 target guns with a 6 in barrel and a front barrel bushing. Take a peek...
 
X-Five is supposed to be fantastic, not sure the price difference between the X5 and X6 will be worth it... by the way, before Irunguns sold out almost all their stock, an X5 Competition was there for $1600 US, ($2100 here for the same model ;) )
