What distance do you zero the irons on your .22LR? Do you have a scope on her as well? If so, where do you zero that?

What distance do you like to shoot with irons?

(For this discussion, I'm referring to field/sporting/hunting irons, rather than peep & globe target sights. The right shooter can do some amazing things with a target gun & sights...)

20yrds. The principle ammo I shoot in both my rimfires is Federal Blue Box and American Eagle 36gr HP, the trajectory chart from Federal lists for a zero on that round sighted at 20yrds; 20yrds & 60yrds zero 0.5"high at 40yrds. That works out to minute of Varying Hare in my book.

For plinking with field irons I have my bolt rifle zeroed at 25yrds. Can't see the same sized target much past 50yrds without a scope....which is zeroed at 50yrds (on my other bolt).

My 10/22's scope is at 50 yards, iron sights (shoot through rings) at 15 yards. Great for running gophers, and rats if you are lucky enough to find some.

Generally with a 22 if you sight in @ 25 you will be on again @ 50. Many slight variables such as line of sight above bore and to a lesser degree the velocity of you ammo.
